Hi everybody- we hope this blog post finds you safe and well.

We thought we would stop by and give you a little update on our currently (unusually) quiet life at Heart of the Country Shopping Village.

It is still completely surreal not to have our little community awash with visitors. We are so used to the background noise of the centre bustling with people; enjoying visiting our shops, popping for a hair or beauty treatment or enjoying their lunch with friends and family. Although of course, we have enjoyed the lovely sunny weather, we have truly missed the atmosphere that is created when The Barn, The Lichfield Tea Company and The Pear Tree Creperie all have guests enjoying the outdoor eating areas and the gorgeous fresh air. We hope the sun stays around long enough for us all to be able to enjoy it together when we are able to reopen.

We pride ourselves on the glorious surroundings here at Heart of the Country Shopping Village and whilst we might not have visitors at the moment, we want to make sure it is looking beautiful for when we do. We have definitely found ourselves in battle with the weeds- they are popping up absolutely everywhere- so it’s certainly keeping us busy trying to stay on top of them! The nice weather has meant we have also had plenty of watering to do. I am sure other people feel the same, but the time outside at the minute really soothes the soul and makes the process of lockdown feel (for us at least) a whole lot easier.

On that note, we have also been coming up with some new additions for The Green Fairy Trail. With suggestions flying in from social media we have created some fabulous rainbow-coloured Fairy doors- dedicated to our NHS and the wonderful work they are doing for us currently (and always). It will be a wonderful sight to see families back at the fairy trail, filling it with laughter, as it should be.

You may remember that shortly before we closed we made the decision to retire Carlos the pig from the village and move him, along with Alice for company, to a new retirement barn out of the public eye. Well, we are happy to report that Carlos and Alice are having a truly decadent time in their new quarters- with Sandra and Sower still over at the Fairy Trail enjoying being able to rule the roost and working on their sunbathing techniques.

We are enjoying regular contact with all of our brilliant village businesses and have been so impressed with how many of them are adapting their businesses to life in lockdown- make sure you follow their social media pages to keep updated with all that is going on.

Well, the weeds are probably resurfacing as we type- so, for now, we will depart. We are sending all of our warmest wishes to our lovely village friends, we will be so happy to welcome you all back to the village when it is safe to do so.

The Stubbs Family x
